145.3 million dollars in 2016 for Romanian Gamedev

In a recent study by RGDA, it is revealed that our local gamedev industry had a turnover of 145.3 million dollars in 2016, an increase from 137 million dollars in 2015. There was also a 25% increase in the number of game studios, leading to a total of more than 80 registered companies.

Around 85% of our local studios focus on creating new games, while 15% offer various industry related services.

The top 3 gaming companies in Romania are branches of major international players: Ubisoft, EA and Gameloft. The most famous game series being partially developed in our country are Fifa, Need for Speed, Assassin's Creed, Ghost Recon and Modern Combat.

As for games entirely produced in our local studios, the most notable ones are Frozen Free Fall, Solitaire Arena, Door Kickers, Move or Die and Black the Fall.
