Romanian games to look forward to in 2018

Welcome to 2018, fellow Romanian games enthusiasts! And what a great year it's set to be!

With 2017 out of the way, we take a look forward at what Romanian game developers have in store for us this year. In no particular order, here are the biggest Romanian games in active development at the moment:

Developer: Angry Mob GamesStatus: Realeased on Switch, Early Access on Steam
Striking the balance between the growing competitive scene and the genre’s party game roots, Brawlout hopes to cater to the veteran platform fighter, the casual fan and the newcomer looking to make their mark. Brawlout does away with shields and blocking, focusing heavily on the aggressive, fast-paced combat which has made platform fighters so fun to both play and watch.

Door Kickers: Action Squad is an old school side scroller action game that puts you in the role of a SWAT trooper and sends you to deal with bad guys in various locales of Nowhere City USA. Chose your gear wisely then kick the doors down and face the outlaws. Master weapons recoil and time your reloads, use distance and cover to your advantage and, most importantly, know your enemy and deal with him accordingly. And when it gets too hard, bring over a friend to help.

Yaga is an action RPG with light rogue-like elements about a one-handed blacksmith sent on impossible quests by an envious king. Enter the gloomy world of Eastern European folklore and mythology, rich with deadly creatures, charming characters and lots of secrets!

You play as Frankie, the robot that’s been discarded and left for dead and who is now out for revenge. In your quest to best your enemies, you will reassemble Frankie in many different ways, using any parts you discover to your advantage. Use a chainsaw as an arm, a large fridge as a body and a disco ball as a head to distract your enemies.

Four funny adventurers explore a sinking island under the constant threat of the rising waters. They must work together and collect resources quickly to build a raft and escape before the final wave washes them away. If they fail, they all lose together.

Developer: Interactive StoneStatus: In development
Gray Dawn is a first person horror game with adventure elements, exploring both real and unreal universes. The game builds around the story of a priest who is suspected of murdering one of his altar boys who went missing a few days ago. The young boy was severely sick, experiencing inhuman behavior, so the priest chose an exorcism. However, the exorcism apparently failed and the boy jumped out of the window. No corpse was ever found.

Developer: Tiny Trinket GamesStatus: In development
Azuran Tales is blending together traditional RPG systems, base and hero management in a fantasy world. Role-play through Campaign chapters and test your followers against the rising threat of the Demonic army knocking on your Empire’s doorsteps.

Developer: Stuck In AtticStatus: In development
Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure is a comedy point 'n click love letter to classic-era Lucas adventures, HP Lovecraft, Hitchcock and many, many others. A lighthearted spoof of the Cthulhu Mythos, Gibbous will have you controlling 3 protagonists, dealing with strange cultists, ancient voodoo, and Dead Cthulhu himself. Well, "dead" is just a matter of opinion...

The game is built around the core mechanic of casting a magical sphere whenever you want. The sphere is a link between two worlds and they will have different properties based on the environment. You can switch gravity, shrink enemies and so on.

Interrogation is a narrative-driven conversational puzzle that deconstructs preconceptions about terrorism by putting them in a noire representation of the iconic movie interrogation scene as the investigator tasked with emotionally manipulating the suspects at hand despite realistic constraints.

Developer: Scorpius StudiosStatus: Closed Alpha
PositronX is a Rogue-lite First Person Shooter that emphasizes on strategic fast paced combat, creative time and movement mechanics and detailed graphical quality, packed into a highly re-playable experience.

Developer: Fox DiveStatus: Early Access on GameJolt
The game is inspired in pacing and mechanics from both shoot'em ups and FPS arena titles. It features 5 minutes long PvP matches full of frenetic action. However, if you’re not the competitive type, you can relax and enjoy a thought provoking story about a possible humankind evolution, through the game's cooperative or solo play modes.

The classic platformer shooter revived into a new starter E-Sport. Rumble League is a real-time strategy game set in an alternate retro-futuristic 1987. Brawl against real players in an action-packed but deep single-lane MOBA for mobile. Travel to exotic locations, fight for glory and cash, collect tons of bad-ass fighters and take on other teams around the world. Rumble League is a pop culture mix tape in video game form - if you’re a fan of arcade fighting and beat-em-up games from back in the day, you have to check it out.

Developer: White Pond GamesStatus: In development
Urban Strife is a post-apocalyptic turn-based tactical game with survival elements, such as shelter management, looting, crafting and trading. The game is inspired by works like XCOM and the Jagged Alliance series and features a strategic layer and a tactical combat system, rival factions and zombies.
